In spite of this Dwindling Economy, in spite of many jobs being eliminated, in spite of many IT specialists losing jobs every day, and in spite of many companies going out of business every week, we are still advertising for many new positions every single day.
But I am noticing a strange phenomenon. We always advertise certain specialized IT jobs based in many cities within United States on all our open positions on a daily basis and due to the nature of certain positions, some of these positions have a requirement that the candidate must be a U.S. Citizen while in some cases, a green card is acceptable. What I am not able to understand is that in spite of thousands of people losing jobs in recent weeks, why I do not see much response from IT Specialists who are U.S. Citizens. Few US Citizens who do apply seem to be ignoring the need of presenting their resumes in a well–written and impressive way with a compelling cover letter. It seems that some of the resumes I receive have not been updated for a very long time.
I cannot believe that there are not many US Citizens with expertise in various IT domains who are currently looking for a job. I know there are thousands of them. Problem is that are not applying for open jobs that are being advertised. Why is that happening?
• Frustration?
• Out of touch with the Specialized Domains?
• Left IT industry and moved on to some other non-IT domains?
• Got no response for months, so losing hopes? Your current resume and style of presentation may be responsible for this.
I would like to remind experienced IT specialists who are U.S. Citizens that IT industry has thousands of unfilled positions which for different reasons, cannot be filled by any candidate who is not a US citizen. I would like to remind our readers that sending a resume which has not been updated for a long time is hurting them. It is not difficult to notice such resumes within five seconds of our looking at it. Another problem I see is that a very large number of people have one standard resume that goes out for every single position they apply for.
